The young pianist Alexander Vorontsov already delights audiences through his highly sensitive and thoughtful interpretation of the piano repertoire; the noted music critic Barbara Kaiser described him recently as "the most intelligent young pianist of his generation."
Alexander, who grew up in a musical-sporty family, began playing the piano at the age of four and was accepted into the prestigious youth academy of the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover at age eleven. He is continuing his studies here in the class of Professor Lars Vogt.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Alexander Vorontsov has enjoyed many years of international concert experience. He has already performed at festivals such as the Kissinger Summer, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, the Lucerne Festival and the PODIUM Festival Esslingen, and has recorded solo pieces for the radio station ‘NDR Kultur’. In 2018 he will make his debut in the Berliner Philharmonie. On top of his busy schedule as a performer, Alexander was recently a member of the jury at the Ibiza International Piano Competition and the International Grotrian Steinweg Competition and is the artistic director of the concert series "Plathner's Eleven" in Hanover.
Alexander has won numerous prizes as both soloist and chamber musician in competitions. He was recently awarded the price for the best music mediator at the TONALi piano competition.
Alexander has attended numerous masterclasses, receiving further musical inspiration from at professors such as Arie Vardi, Bernd Goetzke, Andrea Bonatta and Eberhard Feltz. He is also a member of the academy of ‘concerto21’ at the Alfred Toepfer Foundation.
